This workshop presentation will focus on the impact of marginalized status on LGBTQ+ couples. The presenter will highlight the Minority Stress Model and Intersectionality, as it relates to sexual minority couples.  The presentation will also explore common issues that may arise in therapy for LGBTQ+ couples.  The presenter will use case vignette examples to stimulate discussion and highlight possible treatment strategies to explore with clients in therapy.  Future research areas of exploration will also be highlighted.


Participants will learn:

·         An understanding of the impact of the Minority Stress Model and Intersectionality on LGBTQ+ Couples

·         The key areas of treatment for LGBTQ+ couples

·         Strategies for effectively working with LGBTQ+ couples in counseling

·         Resources for clinicians and health professionals who are working with LGBTQ+ couples
